MEANING OF CHRISTMAS

Only a few days to go, then it will be the anniversary of our saviors birth. I find it incredible that the King of the Universe, the Prince of Peace, came to Earth as a little babe, helpless and humble. He was born in a cave, cold, smelly full of animals and dung, straw, but no heat, no bed. Mary and Joseph did the very best they could for Him. Joseph made a fire, and arranged the straw for Mary to give birth. There wasn't anyone there to help her , except the Angels who were always with this holy woman. A fodder stand was used as a crib, and swaddling clothes kept Him warm. The Angels proclaimed the good news to the Shepperd's in the area. They came in awe to see this amazing sight. The people of the streets came too, because they saw the star which showed the way.
Today we reenact this by putting up a creche, singing carols, and going to church to pay Him homage.

This is a very hectic time for me. I'm trying to bake cookies, clean, and decorate. Now, Yogi has called saying that Janice is failing rapidly. This is going to put a big damper on the holiday for him. I wish that he would open up to us. I feel badly that I can't comfort him in some way. Oh, I pray for him and Janice, but he doesn't seem to have a sense of God or His Goodness. I can hear him now, " If God is so good , why is He letting this happen to Janice?". It is hard to explain that never does anything that isn't for our good in some way. Perhaps she needs to suffer in order to go straight to Heaven. I don't, I'm not God. But I do know there is a reason for everything.

MOM

Went to Mom's on the 31 st of October. Sandy was home. She had gone to work for 4 hrs but then they had a Halloween Party, and she's not into that, so she went home. They are good to her that way.Probably because she's the best worker they have right now. Anyway, when she saw what I brought, 4 dvds withe religious themes, she lost interest in what we were talking about. She did read one of the poems that I did, and liked it. Mom liked the poetry too. I also gave her a book by Mother Angelica. She has seen her on TV and was not impressed--too forceful!! Mom isn't use to that kind of evangelising ..
We talked about the coming holidays, and where she would be. Whith Lisa due to deliver at any time, we are going to play it by ear. Melinda is also due sometime soon. It's thier 3 rd. Mom is in good physical health. Her knees hurt if she twists them the wrong way, but her sugars are fine.

Linda Rennie

Lately I have been thinking about Linda Rennie alot. I remember the talks we had on the phone, the shopping trips we made, the little things that we talked about, both religous and secular. Here is a poem dedicated to Linda.

The Ride

Let's go for a ride,
And see the sites.
The leaves are in color,
And the sky is bright.

Let's go for a ride,
We'll do what you like.
We'll go to the ocean,
And watch the waves.

Let's go for a ride,
Let's walk the beach.
Examine each pebble,
And choose each sea shell.

Let's go for a ride,
The tide's coming in.
We will walk the shore,
And get our feet wet.

Let's go for a ride,
It may be our last.
You're so very sick my friend,
I want you to last in my heart.

Dx Update

I never said what the doctor dx me with, achillies tendonitis. She put me on Naprosyn and exercises to stretch the ham strings and walking. I feel better, but my ham strings are very tight. I have to be careful at night not to sleep with my heels on the bed, rather at an angle or off the bed. Being diabetic, I watch my feet carefully anyway.

Hannah's first day at school. She's a big girl now, going to a private school, wearing a uniform, and carring a satchel.

We still talk at night before she goes to bed. Her speach and vocabulary have improved by leaps and bounds. Of course , Karen reads to her each night which helps. Hannah chooses the book or story to be read.

The mittens are almost done, then I have to make a quick scarf.

BAKING

Glenn came home safely last night from his working trip to Las Vegas. He had some catching up to do on his homework and some sleep, so I tried to be quiet. Today was baking day. I made a pumpkin spice cake [bar] from scratch. It was to have raisins in it, Dana wouldn't touch it if it did. So I used cranraisins flavored with orange. It was a lot of work and time consuming, but well worth it .It looks and smells great. It also has a cream cheese frosting.
There was a minor problem, the "kitten". He had to have his nose into everything. I no sooner got him off the counter when he was back up again. What can you do but laugh!! He eventually got the "hint" and went to lay down.

DOORS

Doors are important part of our life. As children we are taught to open as many as we can, and take as many roads as we can. As we mature the doors get heavier, and the halls get longer. But this is all part of the maturing process. We must contue to learn from every source we can find, our books, our laptops, our friends, and our family. Most of all , we mature through our faith in God. We know that He has us in the palm of His hand and will not let us fall.
We must continue to open doors in order to learn and grow as people.

Medical Update

Went to see Dr. Starr today. No changes, but I made an appointment for Dr. Sullivan for Wednesday of this week. Maybe we can do something about these heel spurs of mine. The secretary said that I will probably need new x-rays done prior to my meeting, but she will call me on that.
My diet was going well on the Atkins, but I broke done and had a salad today from the hospital cafeteria. Now that that is over, I can get back to my diet. I had lost 8 lbs in 6 days.
I feel better, except for my feet and shoulder. Man, I can hardly wait until tonight when I can take some meds.

POLITICS

Well I've gone political on my other blog. I said that people were making a big deal about the running mate rather than the issues. I think that the first issue should be the right to life--without that there is nothing else matters. I can not see our country sliding into decay and ruin because a few people think that the running mate is too old , or gun crazy. If we don't have anyone around, what difference does it make who is president?

Karen's Delema

Well she's gone and done it. She has a solicitor to confront Jeff with the fact she wants to bring Hannah to Tacoma to live. This should be interesting. Jeff is dead set against her taking Hannah out of the country. Karen also needs to get Hannah's American passport either from London or Edeninburrough.I think that carol ann will be the deciding factor in all of this. If Jeff is that close to Carol ann, then he miight let Hannah go with summer visits. We shall see.

Hannah is doing well in school, and at home. She is learning more of her alphabet letters by sight and sound. Her speach is improving too.

GOOD DAY, GOOD SUNSHINE!!

Today is a very good day! Very little pain. I was able to go across the street to help out Stacia and Val for a few minutes. Val had to leave to get some papers from home and couldn't leave Stacia alone. So we had a nice visit. When I got back, I finished my e-mail, checked up on my friends in blog land, then made banana nut bread with a new recipe. I think it came out pretty good, not too sweet, and just enough nuts.
I did have a problem with the kitten-- he was into everything I was doing.I can see that when I start the cookies I will have to lock him up. I figure I have 10 people or families to give to, so that's 10 doz of each kind of cookie to make. Most of the batches make 6 or more doz, so there is no problems there.

SHALL WE DANCE AGAIN

Back on my feet after a weekend in bed. Heel spurs and neurapthy did it again. I have to find out what I am doing wrong to cause this.

Did finish the blue mittens and got the pink yarn ready to go.

Told Dana today that I have to go back on Atkins , or Slimfast to loose some of this weight. I will use up what I have in the house, salads, soups, etc. then start.

ANOTHER DAY, ANOTHER DOLLAR?

I'm feeling much better today. I guess it was a case of sorry for myself day yesterday. I managed to get all my poems in the computer last night using microsoft word. I learn some thing new every day it seems.
I am up much earlier today. I also got better sleep, after taking enough pain meds. That may be the key. I didn't eat during the night either.
Not much planned for today-- finish the blue mitten, read, go to Church.

A new day, A new beginning

Today is a new day, a new beginning for me. Much has happened in the last week to make me look again at the world. God continues to bless me with my poetry, of that I have no complaint. But in His wisdom, He took the son of my neice. He was only 2 months old, and not yet baptised. I guess I am feeling a great deal of grief from this, and unresolved grief from the loss of Lisa's son. There is a gnawing inside of me I don't know how to handle. I do pray, and read, try to keep busy, most of all I try not to over eat especially sweets.I feel like I want to run away, to hide from the world. There is so much pain and strife going on out there. People saying that politically I should do this or that. I am becoming confused and bewildered.
